Recolor Tutorial Part Three

Welcome to part 3 of my easy step by step guide to re-colouring. I am going to assume that you have read parts 1 and 2 and have mastered the basics and know how to open up a package file in SimPE. In the first tutorial we looked at how to re-colour a maxis object with just a single texture and in part 2 we looked at how to re-colour a maxis object with multiple textures and save them both as a single package file and separate texture files.
In this part we are going to look at re-colouring custom content. Before you re-colour custom content you need to ensure that the mesh creator has stated that it can be re-coloured. I am going to use my 3x3 rug mesh for this tutorial.
Some meshes may be marked that you may re-colour with the mesh creators’ permission. If that is the case with a mesh with you would like to re-colour then please pm or email the creator. Apart from being polite and the right thing to do, they will appreciate the fact that you have asked and will invariably say yes.
To make it easy for the tutorial I have saved the mesh file into the creating SimPE file that we created in the first tutorial. I have also included it in the zip files with the pdf and word copies of this tutorial or it can be downloaded at the link below.
