There's a really easy way to make sure the TXMTs match.
First, some prep work:
You open the file of the object that has the TXMT you want- let's say jonesi's blanket.

R-click on the TXMT line and extract to a folder- I named mine TXMTjonesiblanket
You will be using this file to Replace the TXMT in the file of the object you want to have match.
Now open the file of the object you want to match: here I'm using the default file for the colonial sofa:
Click on the TXMT that you want to match (in this case I've clicked on the first of the fabric TXMTs- bluesilkpattern)
Go down to the plug-in view and highlight the file name. Copy it to a wordpad/ notepad document, because you will need it later.

Now (still in the plug-in view) go down and highlight the stdMatBaseTextureName and copy it to the wordpad doc.

(This also shows a line for cMaterialDefinition- however, this is always the same as the filename without _TXMT added, so you really don't have to copy it separately).
You are now ready to replace the original TXMT.
Go back up to the top and R-click on the TXMT for bluesilksilkpattern and choose REPLACE.
You will be asked what you want to replace it with, and you will open the jonesiblanket TXMT folder you previously made (or any other TXMT you want to match) and click on the XML.
This box will show up and you will click yes.

Now all you need to do is rename some things. If you do them in this order, it saves having to re-copy and paste multiple times, but they can actually be replaced in any order.
First, since the properties tab is already open, go down to the stdMaterialBaseTextureName and click on it. It will currently show the info from jonesi's blanket. Paste in the original name from your wordpad doc. COMMIT.
Now, click on the FileList tab. Click on the name in the large left-hand box and it will appear under Filename:. Paste in the same stdMaterialBaseTextureName.
Now, look under Blocklist, at the filename line there. Copy the original filename from your wordpad doc and paste it over the jonesi one. COMMIT.
Click on the cMaterialDefinition tab. Highlight where it says Definition, and paste in the original filename and backspace to erase the _TXMT. COMMIT and save the file.
You have now succesfully replaced the old TXMT with one that will perfectly match that of the object you wanted, in this case- jonesi's blanket.
Let me know if this is too confusing and I will try to find time to do a proper tutorial
