I thought I had a great idea for putting together items that would enhance the decor of a Knight's Great Hall..... with blasons of French, English and German family crests onto the meshes of boblishman's flag, the Sims Store's Sword & Shield (but using Almight Hat's .png as my base template) and lastly, the suit of armour from Sims Connection. The suit of armour has the knight holding a shield ..... which I was merrily recolouring with the various family blasons. I had extracted the texture to recolour, but when it got time to do the actual importing of the newly-created recolours, the mesh only had the base of the statue as the part to recolour.
:reaction Stupid mesh!! Why .... I jus'wanna :bitchslap!!
I tried to see if the mesh applied to HL's tut on recolouring an object, but it didn't appear to be so. I tried to follow the tut by Ignorant Bliss ..... but it seems to have gone over my head somewhat. Sadly, I don't know if I actually understand what the heck I would need to do. It's probably just sooo easy to fix though ..... I could just :bitchslap myself!! So I come with hat in hand ..... :beg begging for someone's ..... anyone's help. Could someone have a look at the mesh? Since Sims Connection has hit the dirt, I've uploaded the mesh to mediafire -- http://www.mediafire.com/?wj491469tcryvo1. I am forever grateful! :D

I ried - but the link is empty.

Here's a link (http://www.mediafire.com/?1rax5cp0cn70m).

Thanks Ladies!
Not sure why the link didn't work Helle, as it's working for me. But Thanks, Amythestfenix, for posting the link to it. I have changed the link, just in case.
I appreciate the help. If it is a simple matter of changing things in SimPE, could a simple explanation on what is/was needed to be done be given? I would really like to understand "what's what" ..... I know it's something sooooo easy ..... I just don't know what and where.

Think I have fixed it.
Try it and let me know. I it works I will explain you how I did.
Kind regards, Helle

:OMG :realbighug:
Thanks Helle.
I have to run off to work (damn RL), but it'll be the first thing I do this evening when I get home (10PM-Vancouver time). I'll let ya know in the wee hours later! EXcited!!!
Edit: Well, Helle! It works like a charm and looks fabulous in-game. So I can't wait to read how exactly you made it work. EXcited about that too!! I get to learn something New! I'll have to look up some Danish blasons .... or maybe use the Royal Family's crest. But I'll find something as a small tribute.

Glad it worked.
In fact it was pretty simple.
Start by checking the GMDC
Here you can see which subset your model use - no matter if it is a slaved mesh or a mesh with own (internal) textures). If a subset is not here, your mesh doesn't use it. In this case the subset name is sculpturechi_chrome
Then check SHPE
All subsets defined in GMDC must be defined here as well (don't forget to check if they are spelled correct).
Then check TXMT and MMAT
To make things work the right way you must have an MMAT to match your subset sculpturechi_chrome and the name of the MMAT must match the stdMatBaseTextureName in the TXMT.
In your case there is 3 TXMTs - one related to the sculpturechi_chrome subset:
But there is only 1 MMAT and as you see this is NOT related to the sculpturechi_chrome subset. In fact it is related to a non-existant wood subset.

So I made 2 changes in the MMAT:
- I changed the subset name
- I changed the name of the MMAT
You can edit it by clicking the textline i the left side (where the red boxes are) and then the text will show in the right side of the screen. Then you can make your changes - DON'T FORGET TO COMMIT.
After you have made the changes then go to: Tools -> Object tools -> Fix Integrity and press OK.

Then save and close.
Here is how it looks after I have changed it:

That's all :love
That was my first tutorial ever, hope you can use it.
Kind regards, Helle

Thanks for the tutorial Helle. I'm going to try it on the "old" mesh that I saved just for that purpose. To practice with ..... using your first tutorial! Maybe this thread should be moved to the tutorial section so everyone can see it! tehehe
Sadly, I have to run off to work again ..... damn RL. Why ... Oh, Why .... Can't I just win the Lottery!! :wacko
