The theory was for recolors to be picked up.  It's not my fault if there aren't any! :D

If it can pick up recolors, does that mean we can use it to -make- the recolors?  :drool Plain white or pink phones don't really work in some of my houses either, so I would love to try recoloring it.

I think I really have it fixed this time. :D

I don't have Pets installed right now, and I was able to place and use both phones without the handsets disappearing.  Apparently the clone process didn't pull the important bits, so I had to add in manually.

I did a quick recolor of this and it also appears to be recolorable.  Can't say for sure about requirements of CEP, cause I am mid-install of EPs right now and no CEP yet.
