S2: Possibly a simple recolor??? M&G's SweepingStaircases...
« on: November 01, 2009, 10:10:33 PM »
Hi you wonderfully talented creators you... seriously!  :wub

Is it possible - and would one of you be willing to do it? To make an invisible recolor of the railing that goes down the middle of the two SweepingStaircases that came with either M&G or Apt? (I got both at the same time, so I never know what came with what...)

The files are named SweepingStaircaseDeco and SweepingStaircaseQuaint.

Thank you ever soooooo much!
Catherine

It's not deletable?  If you place two side by side you can normally use the modular stair railing tool to delete the railings on non modular stairs.

It's a double staircase with the rail right down the middle... EAxis didn't provide a recolor without the rail so I just assumed it was all together and I was stuck with it. I'll try the recolor swatch tool on it and see what happens. Thanks.

I don't think the delete tool will work...it's the new staircase that came with AL...

Sweeping staircase didn't come with AL.. that's the spiral.  The Sweeping came with M&G which I don't have.

Well the delete didn't work.  I highly doubt an invisible recolor could be done for the middle rail since it is almost surely mapped the same as the outside rails.  The best option would be an override for the stairs with the rail removed.

Do they slide down the middle one?

I dunno (about sliding down the middle?) And I haven't had a chance to load my game for a few days to check on it.

Somehow between Paladin's Categoriser and The Compressorizer a bunch of my shiney new pixel-toys got borked... *sigh* including some of yours, Lunie. So, I've been reconstructing my "new downloads" folder (yes, I backed up - before I compressorized; but not before I categorised, and my gut tells me the categoriser is what did the damage.) I should be able to check my game again tonight. Please keep your appendages crossed?

I'm all for an override - if that's what it needs. Who has bannisters down the middle of their sweeping staircases? Not Scarlett! Rhett would've walked into it and hurt hisself.  :wacko They wouldn't have needed to buy that little pony afterall! LOL!

Thanks!

EDIT: It is indeed NOT selectable with the recolor/swatch tool. And, Don's just not the kinda guy to slide - at least not in my game! LOL!
On the other hand, I've been able to recover some of my newest shinys. I think: if it's already been compressorized then you can't safely use the Catergorizer. SimPE seems to work though. *Whew* I'm tired... sorry to ramble. 'Nite!

I'm not sure its Compressorizing + the Categoriser. I've found that the Categoriser alone can bork some CC - although very rarely. When it does, it is repeatable - that piece of PC always came out borked. At least  it was for me, when I tested because I did not want to believe it.

I'd vote the categoriser over the compressor.  I re-categorized some upper cabinets and then my game would crash and/or not start.  Once I put the originals back in it worked.

Yeah. It's the categorizer. Too bad it's a longer process with SimPE... but, at least it's also safer. I redid the new stuff with SimPE, saved, and compressed - now everything is fine.

Except for that bannister ruining my Southern Mansion's staircase...  :yagami

My understanding is that the Categorizer was designed before the Compressorizer and is not compatible.

SimPE is designed to work with compressed files in the Sims 2 game and you can use with Compressorizer.  If you recategorize after compressing, it will corrupt the files.
