TS2: Making these Helga meshes recolorable
« on: March 02, 2010, 02:34:08 AM »
It seems that I am not awesome enough for the ignorant bliss tutorial on adding subsets, etc. to make things recolorable. I would love a Gayle "walk me through it" one for making these Helga meshes recolorable, but would be thrilled if somebody here just wanted to fix the meshes themselves. I really want the TV from the Victoria set and the sofa and chairs from the Edem set (meshes uploaded here). The chairs and sofas should be 2-subset items, but it looks like she cloned a 1-subset object when they were made  ??? Can someone help?

Kate, I hope you don't mind but this time I just fixed them for you instead of trying to write a tut. However, I will explain briefly what I did.

For the TV: I added a MMAT to the package file (just grabbed the MMAT from a BG tv and then changed all the info) and then went into the GMND and added a tsDesignModeEnabled datalistextension and then added an Array with the subset 01. I then went to the OBJD and updated the MMAT, committed, saved. Did a Fix Intergrity and then saved the package.

For the Sofa: I just went to the GMND and added an Array with subset 01 to the tsDesignModeEnabled datalistextension. Then I cleaned up the TXMT, MMAT, and TXTR files because there were some entries in there that weren't needed. I also added an MMAT for subset 01.

For the Chairs: I noticed that the chairs used the exact same TXTRs as the Sofa so I slaved them to the sofa. I also added the subset 01 to the tsDesignModeEnabled datalistextension for both.

The sofa and chair packages have been renamed to reflect their new slaved status. All of them have the same GUID's as the original and will overwrite the original files. Please do whatever you want with the fixed files. I don't have any intention of posting them in my section so feel free to put them in yours if you want.

Let me know if you have any problems!  :realbighug:

  • I may be inconsistent, but not all the time.

Whilst I am not a fan of "that other place" there is occasionally something worth having. In this instance a tutorial by Spaik about adding subsets, which is so simple even I can use it... Let me know if you want it Kate...

Thanks so much, Anne! I don't mind at all that you went ahead and did them and I appreciate the explanation  :realbighug:

Issy, I'd love to have Spaik's tutorial!

Lunie, I failed at following IgnorantBliss's tutorial this time, but I'm sure I'll try again, because making things recolorable is a skill I really want to have  :yes
